WHO IS A GMSA MEMBER?
Asalamu Alaikum warahmatullah wabarakatu.
We begin by thanking Allah for all his bounties, and seek his peace and blessings upon our Prophet Mohammed  (pbuh).
I have received messages recently from some Muslim students across the country who are seeking to join GMSA, in light of this,  I have decided to explain to us all via this message, about who a GMSA member is.
GMSA is the acronym for Ghana Muslim Students Association. According to Article 4, clause 1 of the GMSA constitution,  "Membership of GMSA shall generally be open to all Muslim students in the country upon registration"
Therefore,  If you are a Muslim,  a Student, and a Ghanaian,  you automatically become eligible to be a GMSA member, you only have to register with the GMSA branch in your Region or Institution.  But if for some reason you have not been able to register with them, it doesn't stop you from contributing or participating in GMSA activities. Even if you are not a Student,  we still find common grounds as Muslims and Ghanaians to share everything.
Article 4, clause 3 of the constitution also states, "Not withstanding the provision of clause (1), any person who was a student may enjoy full membership for three years after leaving school. Thereafter,  such a person becomes an alumnus".
So, one way or the other, we are all members of GMSA or Alumnus of GMSA at some point in our lives. Either ways we are a part of GMSA. Our advices, contributions and participation is highly encouraged everytime and everyday.
GMSA is a community of MUSLIM STUDENTS, and Muslim Students are Students who believe in Allah and His Messenger (SAW). Nothing more, nothing less. We need not separate ourselves on sectarian Basis or any other sentimental issues. What is required of us, as an Ummah is to find common grounds that keep us together, than to find various differences that separate us from each other.
I have also heard from some of my own friends say they are not a part of GMSA, because somewhere in their past, a GMSA member or executive stepped on their toes.
Just as we boldly say: "we are Muslims and not Islam",  we should also acknowledge the fact that, "we are individual GMSA members and not GMSA itself",  and as individuals, we will have our own flaws and shortcomings. See members as individuals and the Association as a Community of Love and Peace.

It became a habit, and it became like the most discussed topic between mum and I. She had her own way of getting it all out of me. I don't know what dragged me into this big city filled with tall buildings and big cars. I was happy downtown with my family. I remember when we rode on donkeys to the farm every dawn.
