I AM RICH, BUT WITH POOR EDUCATION; SHOULD I BE YOUR ROLE MODEL

Image
Alhaji Nurudeen is the chairman of the Hajj Board in Ghana, Dr. Amidu is a lecturer at the university of Ghana, school of health sciences, and I am the CEO of Abubakar and Sons mechanics inside suame magazine. We are three friends with an amazing childhood that saw us through our smiles, fears, downfalls and separation. We used to attend the same kindergarten and lived in the same neighbourhood, so we spent most of our childhood moments together. Rolling in the heap of sand, the evening and weekend quran studies, the "4 poles" and the tyre races, indeed this later generation are missing out alot of fun. If I am going to tell you all that we did during childhood, we will continue this story in another season, but I have a question and a message for you,  so let us focus on that. ----------------------------------------------- I am rich, but have a very poor education background;  should I be your role model as a growing youth? -------------------------------- My fri...

POLYGAMY AND OUR FAMILY'S INVESTMENT.

Image
Do not raise your children the way your parents raised you, they are born for a different time~ Ali ibn Abi Talib(RA) ................................................. Muna's father is at the 'Ataaya' base right now,  he came home to eat supper and went out to pray 'Isha'. I know he is not coming back any sooner, that has been the routine since we had a little discussion about he getting a second wife. I was against it not because of jealousy,  I rejected this offer because our oldest child, Muna, is just 15years old, and I was hoping Muna's father will let us invest in our family rather than bringing in a fresh bride. Muna just completed junior high school, and I believe getting her quality education is the best. I would not have rebelled if Muna's  father had a lucrative job, he has been managing with his 'tyre repair' business for a while now, we actually had plans of expanding it, and bringing in more innovations just before we got married, ...

MY THRONE, MY PEOPLE

Image
They are in a cold war,  a war with invincible boundaries. They meet each other with manly hugs, and big congratulatory vocabularies. They go ahead to enquire about each others health when it really does not matter to them, they do not wish for each others death, they only wish for each others downfall. Their dress code at programs say it all,  as they battle who has the biggest cover cloth and who holds the golden umbrella, alongside their flashy cars. Everybody wants to be recognised as the richest, most presentable and most befitting of my Throne.  I say my Throne because, I am the first to sit on it, I have no predecessor nor an ancestor, many were befitting of it when the time came for someone to sit on it, but I was favoured by grace. Anytime my father comes back from his Village tours,  he gives us stories of new and strange things he came across, one of these stories was about a man who was very old and the people in the village were wondering why he is not ...

STORY OF HARUT AND MARUT, THE TWO FALLEN ANGELS

Image
N B: This is an already graded assignment of mine , I am only sharing sharing with you , so that we all learn together . I am not an expert on Islamic History . This piece seeks to only enlighten us with it's content . --------------------------------------------- Harut and Marut are mentioned once in the Qur’an. Their story has different versions but two popular traditional views. These two traditional views will be dissected in the paragraphs below after which we will evaluate which one is unusual and difficult to understand or accept. In Qur’an Chapter 2 verses 102, Allah says “ They followed what the S haitan gave out (falsely of the magic) in the lifetime of Sulaiman . Sulaiman did not disbelieve, teaching men magic and such things that came down at Babylon to the two angels, Harut and Marut , but neither of these two angels thought anyone (such things) till they said : “We are only for trial, so disbelieve not by learning this magic from us...

WHO IS A GMSA MEMBER

Image
WHO IS A GMSA MEMBER? Asalamu Alaikum warahmatullah wabarakatu. We begin by thanking Allah for all his bounties, and seek his peace and blessings upon our Prophet Mohammed  (pbuh). I have received messages recently from some Muslim students across the country who are seeking to join GMSA, in light of this,  I have decided to explain to us all via this message, about who a GMSA member is. GMSA is the acronym for Ghana Muslim Students Association. According to Article 4, clause 1 of the GMSA constitution,  "Membership of GMSA shall generally be open to all Muslim students in the country upon registration" Therefore,  If you are a Muslim,  a Student, and a Ghanaian,  you automatically become eligible to be a GMSA member, you only have to register with the GMSA branch in your Region or Institution.  But if for some reason you have not been able to register with them, it doesn't stop you from contributing or participating in GMSA activities. Even ...

THE MAKOLA WOMAN

Image
Ouch!  She hit her heard hard at the window when the driver applied the breaks.it is not my head but I won't laugh.  I have a very bad habit of laughing at people who sleep in class and on public transport,  I guess is my mechanism against sleeping as well. This time round the smile is not coming, even though she is sitting just next to me but i am even ready to lend her my shoulder. From what I see in her basket,  I believe she sells sandwiches. It is 11am and the sandwiches are finished already.  I wonder the time she came out of the house to start selling and I will not try to imagine when she woke up to take care of her kids,  husband and even prepare the leaves and vegetables for sale. Her dozing in a car is understandable.  It is rather unfortunate I will have to wake her up in order to alight.  Sorry mum,  she smiled at me,  got down, and even helped me with my things so I can also get down.  Thank you maa,  oh don't men...

THERE IS LIFE AFTER HIV-A Story from Us

Image
I came here as a volunteer and I came with very wiered ideologies, and a lot of misconceptions,  it is probably one of the reasons why I volunteered. I need a change of mind and I need a new environment to do so. I must see new things, I must hear new things and I must experience something outside the norm. The truth is, you do not usually see HIV positive people in my country,  and even if there are, it will be in their own interest not to speak up about it.  It must be a secret between they and their health professional, otherwise they face the ugliest stigma of their lives. Their society and friends are the least they would be worried about because their family are going to champion this stigma. Spreading their issue throughout the society and tagging them with all sort of names and attributes. In the worst case scenario,  Leaving the community to lead an isolated lonely life is always their best option and the next thing you hear about is their death. Why we a...
